It is now definitely established that Greenland’s ice cap is disappearing. The ice has melted down 8 feet in the last year.

The entire disappearance of this ice-cap would probably open all the polar regions to settlements, as it is this this ice cap that now profoundly effects the climate of the Arctic and North Temperate zones.
